Ms Excel is a program provided with Microsoft Office suite. Using Microsoft Excel, various calculations including mathematical, statistical, logical can be used. Microsoft Excel file is called Work book. The part of the file where work is done is called Work sheet. A workbook or book is created with several worksheets. Each worksheet has 256 columns and 65536 rows. The columns are named A, B, C…AA, AB…BA, BB, BC…IV etc. 

On the other hand, the rows are numbered from 1 to 65536.
A cell is created by combining rows and columns. There are 16,777,216 cells in each worksheet.

So I am thinking, instead of giving such traditional stupid tips and tutorials on my site, I will give something that is really beneficial to everyone. So that everyone can easily learn Excel from here a little better and very easily and can use it in their workplace.

Changing worksheet name and color

How can we change the name and color of the worksheets as needed? Let's learn –

  1. First, you have to Right Click on the sheet whose name you want to change. Then some options like the image below will appear.
  2. Now if you click on Rename from these options, you will be given a place to change the name of your sheet and write a new name. There, write the name you need and press Enter.
  3. Now if you want to change the color of the sheet, just like before, right click on the sheet name. Then you will see the same options as before. From there, select the “Tab Color” option and select the color according to your choice.

Adding/Deleting Worksheets

Usually when you open a new Excel File, there are three Worksheets by Default. If you need more or need to remove more Worksheets in that file, you can easily increase or decrease it as you wish.

To add new Worksheets, just click on the (+) plus sign shown in the image below with your mouse.

To delete or remove additional Worksheets, right-click on the Worksheet you want to delete and you will get the “Delete” option among the options (as shown in the image). Click on Delete, your selected sheet will be deleted.

A dialog box will appear as shown below. There you will see the worksheets that you have previously hidden. From here, select the one you need to unhide and press OK. That's it, your hidden worksheet will be unhidden.

Hiding/Un-hiding worksheet

Hiding/Un-hiding a worksheet is very easy. Right-click on the worksheet you want to hide, and you will get several options as before (image). From there, click on the Hide option.

If you want to unhide the hidden worksheets again, right-click on any sheet name and click on the Unhide option from the options.

A dialog box will appear like the image below. There you will see the worksheets you have previously hidden. From here, select the one you need to unhide and click OK. That's it, your hidden worksheet will be unhidden.

Splitting worksheet into panes

When working with large databases and to manage worksheets beautifully, it is very convenient to split or divide the entire worksheet into several parts. And to split the worksheet, you have to go to the “View” tab, from there, by clicking on the “Split” option, the entire worksheet will be split/divided.
